Mental Health Letters
Excerpts of letters from parents of adult children with serious mental illness
Parents of adult children with serious mental illness reach out to me daily, seeking help. I follow up on these inquiries as best I can, connecting them to any available state services. But with such a massive backlog for adequate and appropriate mental health care in our state, these families often can not get the help they need, and their loved ones continue to cycle through jails, emergency rooms, and homelessness. I use this input from parents to inform my work on improving access to mental health care. I want to share their stories so people can see what is happening. — Judy
